This holiday season, Dunkin’ guests are flocking to get their festive fix from our menu of seasonal favorites. But while Peppermint Mocha Signature Lattes and Triple Chocolate Muffins are national holiday icons, one Dunkin’ is serving up exclusive limited-edition candy cane and Rockefeller Center holiday donuts for its iconic location.
Chandan Sengupta, President of Chandan Subarna Corp, is the franchisee behind the Dunkin’ located at Rockefeller Center in New York City. With a long career in food and beverage, Chandan has led the Rockefeller location to incredible growth since he acquired it in 2009. “It’s been an extraordinary opportunity,” says Chandan. “We’re at the heart of Midtown, just a few blocks away from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Times Square, and – of course – the iconic Rockefeller Christmas Tree.”
This year, Rockefeller Center is offering a new experience to welcome guests for the holiday season: The Candy Cottage of Christmas Magic. This ticketed event invites guests to “explore shelves of enchanting sweets” and indulge in “mouth-watering moments” – so naturally, the event team reached out to Chandan about Dunkin’s participation.
“They asked if we could create a variety of festive-themed donuts to match the cheerful holiday aesthetic, and we immediately called Harry Sasloff,” says Chandan. Harry is a Dunkin’ Manufacturing Operations Manager who works alongside central manufacturing locations (CMLs) to ensure the highest quality of Dunkin’ donuts. “Sure enough, Harry was instrumental in getting this project off the ground to help us bring this holiday vision to life.”
Harry quickly connected with the Rockefeller event team and a nearby CML who could create the needed holiday donuts, calling on franchisee-owned Lodi CML Cooperative located in Lodi, New Jersey. Honored as the first-ever “CML of the Year” for their exceptional performance and quality standards, Harry knew the team could partner with him and Chandan to make it happen.
For Lodi CML Operations Manager Shirley Ambar Diaz, the collaboration Harry helped bridge between Rockefeller, the Dunkin’ store, and the CML was a stroke of magic. “Harry’s passion for the business is really what brought the holiday donut to life. Supporting the Rockefeller location has been an inspiring experience – it’s so rewarding to see the joy and excitement that our donuts bring to people’s lives during special events like this.”
“This is just another example of how Inspire is constantly evolving to find new ways to meet the changing needs and preferences of our customers,” says Noe Rodriguez, Lodi CML CFO and Operating Controller. “That’s what really gets us excited about the future – the potential for growth and innovation.”
“Inspire is focused on working together to do what’s never been done before – this is a true example of that. My team turned this project around in less than 24 hours,” says Harry. “And it’s such a cool event – guests actually go through the Dunkin’ as part of the Candy Cane scavenger hunt, where they find a special holiday themed donut waiting for them. If you come out, make sure you stop by – we’re letter ‘H’ on the map!”
