Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) Day, the third Monday in January, is a time to remember and reflect on Dr. King’s legacy of equality and service. In Atlanta, Inspire’s Black Voices business resource group (BRG) hosted its annual MLK Day event with a focus on the importance of mentorship and allyship with a welcome breakfast, fireside chat, and weekend volunteer opportunities.
Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta’s (GSGATL) first Black female CEO Jai Ferrell joined Inspire’s Vice President, Technology/IT Counsel and Black Voices BRG member Heather Peck for a fireside chat, discussing the importance of allyship, recognizing your core values, and the gift of showing up.
“Reflect on what impact looks like for you,” says Jai. “I love rainbows – they bring joy to people. And I ask myself, ‘How can I become a rainbow in someone’s cloud?’ Take the risk. Do the hard work.”
The event included an Allyship Welcome Breakfast, inviting community leaders to the Atlanta Global Support Center to foster fellowship and meaningful connections.
This year also marks 30 years of MLK Day as a celebrated day of service. To provide our team members with volunteer opportunities, the Black Voices BRG partnered with non-profit Westside Future Fund to connect Inspire with community beautification projects and youth-empowering activations.
