Women’s History Month is a time to uplift, recognize, and honor the many contributions women have made throughout history and continue to make every day. At Inspire, we’re proud to highlight our business resource group (BRG), Champions of Women Leaders (COWL) and the work they do to empower women all year long.

Arcelia Martin is Inspire’s Manager for International Field Learning in Latin America and Canada. She’s also the International Champion Lead for COWL. She began her Inspire journey with Dunkin’ in 2012 and has been advocating for women in the workplace as a part of COWL since 2016.

“COWL is all about the women,” says Arcelia, “Women who are passionate about empowering and championing each other to be the best they can be. It’s important to create a space where we can support, mentor, and encourage women, while accepting them as their authentic selves.”

Her work within the BRG has been full of special events, but her favorite moments continue to be those small interactions with other COWL members. “For me, it’s a culmination of the little moments over the years,” says Arcelia. “Of people coming up to me and saying, ‘remember that book,’ or ‘that discussion,’ ‘that topic?’ Telling me, ‘It was really impactful’ — that it led them to do something.”

For Arcelia, it was the desire for community that led her to get involved in COWL in the first place. “I wanted to be part of something that celebrated women – that found ways to inspire, to provide growth and educational opportunities for all,” says Arcelia.

In her current role at Inspire, she acts as a positive source of motivation for others. Throughout her career journey – starting as Baskin-Robbins’ Field Learning Manager and now supporting Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, and Dunkin’ – she says people have always been the most important part of her job. “It’s cliché, but it is the people. I’ve been given the opportunity to work with individuals I respect very much.”

“Since this is Women’s History Month, I’d like to take a moment to celebrate all the great women who have come before us and all those who have yet to come,” says Arcelia. “A huge thank you to the women in my world who have had influence in my life. And to those I have not yet had the pleasure, I know you’re making an enormous difference in someone else’s life: thank you!”
