After more than 700 days, The Big Dance® is back. Buffalo Wild Wings, the Official Chicken Wing of March Madness, is making up for lost time and celebrating the return of the tournament by giving Blazin’ Rewards members that order or check-in at BWW the chance to win free boneless wings when a March Madness game goes to overtime*. The brand is also rolling out a TikTok dance challenge called #BDubsDanceCam. Lastly, Buffalo Wild Wings is hosting a Blazin’ Challenge bracket-style competition for fans in the Indianapolis area, where the grand prize is a pair of tickets to the 2021 Final Four® and Championship Game as well as free wings for a year!**
OVERTIME WINGTIME FREE WINGS PROMOTION
Buffalo Wild Wings is giving fans a major incentive to root for overtime this March Madness – because America’s largest sports bar will be dishing out free boneless wings when games go into overtime. To qualify, Blazin’ Rewards members just need to check-in at a BWW or place an e-comm order via Blazin’ Rewards on the same day a game goes to OT, within 30 minutes of the game ending. If you’ve checked in or placed an order via Blazin’ Rewards and an NCAA tournament matchup goes to OT, six free boneless wings will be delivered to your Blazin’ Rewards account the following day.
For historical reference, there’s been an average of almost four OT games over the last 10 NCAA tournaments – that’s 24 wings over the course of the tournament! With a field that has seemingly more parity than ever, there’s sure to be plenty of opportunities for free wings this year.
“Sports fans have endured more than 700 long days without March Madness basketball, so this is one of the most anticipated tournaments ever. That excitement paired with the opportunity to win free wings through our Overtime Wingtime promotion will have fans on the edge of their seats all March Madness,” said Rita Patel, Chief Marketing Officer, Buffalo Wild Wings. “Even if your bracket was busted or your team was knocked out, you can still root for overtime – and that means free wings!”
Reinforcing the brand’s ownership of overtime, Buffalo Wild Wings will own the first commercial after regulation for every game that goes to OT during March Madness, where spots called “The Mascot Dance” and “The Buzzer Beater Dance” will run.
Watch The Big Dance with The Big Dance Bundle, which includes 20 boneless wings, 20 traditional wings + fries for just $39.99.
#BDUBSDANCECAM TIKTOK CHALLENGE & “THE BIG DANCE IS BACK” AD CREATIVE
With fans missing out on the The Big Dance last year, BWW is encouraging fans to participate in its first-ever TikTok Challenge. Inspired by the Dance Cam at sports venues, the #BDubsDanceCam Challenge urges fans to put on their dancing shoes and bust a move for the camera – because for the first time in a very long time, we all have a reason to dance.
#BDubsDanceCam will incorporate music from BWW’s ads and feature a filter effect that makes it rain chicken wings. Select videos will also be featured on TV screens inside Buffalo Wild Wings sports bars during the tournament.
Buffalo Wild Wings has also rolled out new advertising creative for the tournament. The campaign celebrates the return of the Big Dance by featuring viral dance clips from recent NCAA history – such as North Carolina head coach Roy Williams’ dancing in the locker room or the Nebraska bench pretending to be a bobsled team. Developed by The Martin Agency, the campaign includes three :15 ads and two :30 spot.
BLAZIN’ CHALLENGE BRACKET IN INDIANAPOLIS
