This Good Citizens Month, our Inspired Vets business resource group (BRG) team member volunteers ran 126.4 miles of rugged terrain, created encouraging bookmarks, and decorated storybooks. Together, these various volunteer efforts satisfied one important goal: offer support to United Through Reading, a nonprofit dedicated to uniting separated and deployed service member families through story time video recordings.

“Military families face unique challenges, including long periods of separation during training or deployments,” says Inspire’s Senior Director of Enterprise Risk & Internal Audit Bill Stahl. “United Through Reading strengthens the bonds of military families by fostering literacy and emotional connection through the power of reading, no matter the distance or circumstance.”

Bill led Atlanta-based Inspired Vets runners and allies as the Team Captain for the 2025 Ragnar Trail on April 11 and 12, raising more than $13,000 for United Through Reading.

But these Good Citizens didn’t stop there. Inspired Vets also hosted a volunteer event at Inspire’s Atlanta Global Support Center, inviting team members across the organization to join the BRG as they created bookmarks with encouraging messages and decorated storybooks with stickers.

“Good Citizens Month is when we make a dedicated effort across the entire company to get out and do some good. It’s one of the reasons I joined Inspire – this is a company that looks beyond its bottom line,” says Inspire’s Chief Supply Officer and Inspired Vets Executive Sponsor Joel Blanchard. “As a veteran, supporting United Through Reading as a Good Citizen is the highlight of my month.”

In 2024, Inspire team member and franchisee volunteers joined together around the world to serve more than 10,000 volunteer hours. To follow along in 2025, search #goodcitizensmonth across social media.
