By Raj Prashad

In recognition of her exemplary leadership, innovation and the success of SONIC Drive-In, LATINA Style has named Head of Limited Service Category at Inspire and SONIC President Claudia San Pedro the 2020 Corporate LATINA Executive of the Year.

The LATINA Style 50 is the most respected survey of corporate America’s policies and practices as they pertain to the advancement and development of professional Hispanic women. The LATINA Style 50 Awards & Diversity Leaders Conference is also the largest and most prestigious gathering of Latina senior corporate executives in the Nation.

“It is humbling to be recognized as the 2020 LATINA Executive of the Year by LATINA Style,” said San Pedro. “Personally and professionally, I believe in leveraging one’s unique talents, perspective and culture to build stronger relationships and drive better results. I will continue to champion diversity and economic opportunity to positively impact our brand and the communities we live in.”

Over the last 14 years with SONIC, San Pedro has demonstrated excellence in leadership, leading strategic planning and capital allocation strategy for three years as Chief Financial Officer of SONIC before becoming the first Latina to hold the title of SONIC President in 2018. During her time with the brand, she has overseen pivotal transformations that include digital innovation of the brand’s Mobile App and SONIC’s innovative product pipeline while cultivating a strong relationship with franchise operators.

San Pedro was born in Mexico City and immigrated to the United States with her family as a child to seek new opportunities. Her life and career have followed a similar trajectory as many SONIC franchise owners who seek to achieve the American Dream.

As Brand President, San Pedro has continued SONIC’s long history of philanthropic efforts, supporting a variety of cultural and social service nonprofit organizations throughout Oklahoma. She has fostered a culture of inclusivity and diversity, has often served as a guest speaker on panels highlighting finance, restaurant industry trends, franchising, diversity and women’s inclusion and is a founding member of VEST, a curated network of C-suite women working together to expedite the pipeline of more women in positions of power and influence.
