Jimmy John’s in Virginia and Maryland Offer Free Meals for the Elderly

By Raj Prashad

As entire communities continue to grapple with the effects of COVID-19, there’s even more cause for concern for older citizens across America due to the higher risk for developing serious complications from the illness. While seniors follow the recommended precautions of staying socially distant and at home as much as possible, Jimmy John’s franchisee Jessica Manning is doing what she can to keep older adults safe and well-fed by offering one free meal delivered at no cost every day.

Jessica and her husband have been actively donating meals across Arlington and Woodbridge, Virginia and Cockeysville and Timonium, Maryland in recent weeks after receiving nominations from members of the community. They’ve also offered free loaves of Jimmy John’s famous day-old bread at area locations for families in need.

“I think most people have someone in their lives that they’re worried about,” Manning said. “We’re just trying to do whatever we can to help someone stay at home and reduce their exposure by bringing them a meal to their home.”

If you know any elderly adults in the Virginia and Maryland areas who could use a free meal, contact Jessica here.
