Nine years after opening the doors to its first restaurant in Dallas, Rusty Taco is bringing the authenticity of fresh Mexican cuisine to Midlothian, Virginia — a significant milestone in the brand’s expansion across the United States.

The fast casual restaurant will be the brand’s 33rd location, and it will incorporate elements of the new prototype, including a full bar separate from the ordering area and an open-air outdoor patio.

“There’s always a demand for fresh, authentic tacos and margaritas, and we’re excited to expand our footprint to the East Coast.” Joe Sieve, Brand Head of Rusty Taco

The new Virginia location will be owned and operated by franchisees Kevin Donham and Chris Carabell, who also operate several Buffalo Wild Wings sports bars.

“We had strong first impressions with Rusty Taco, from the brand’s fresh and simple menu, to the variety of tacos with unique flavor profiles. We felt like it had the feeling of a mom-and-pop taco stand, but the polish of being a large national brand that everyone can enjoy,” Kevin said.

“Every powerhouse brand starts as a smaller, emerging restaurant company. To have Rusty Taco alongside other top brands, we know we have a level of support from Inspire to build and continue expanding.” Kevin Donham, Rusty Taco – Virginia franchisee

It’s that support, and the emerging segment of tacos and margaritas, that has fellow franchisees across the entire Rusty Taco system encouraged by the continued growth opportunities of the brand and the potential success nationwide.

“When we opened our first Rusty Taco in 2017, we thought the taco and margarita segment had the potential for great growth, and the brand has certainly lived up to those expectations,” said David Fisher of the ThreeWitt Enterprises Inc. franchise group in Dayton, Ohio.

“When you talk about Rusty Taco, you know you have simple operations, fresh and flavorful food, and a great atmosphere.” John Slaughenhaupt, Rusty Taco – Ohio franchisee

Rusty Taco Midlothian opens today, with daily hours from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. at 15816 Westchester Commons Main Street. To celebrate the new opening, the first 50 guests will receive free tacos for a year.
