To help teachers and students receive the classroom supplies they need for the new school year, SONIC® Drive-In is teaming up with Reese’s Book Club, a part of Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine, to support local public schools across the country. Between two separate funding moments in August, the SONIC Foundation will match up to $1 million in donations to classroom projects on DonorsChoose, an education nonprofit that allows individuals to donate directly to public school classroom requests submitted by teachers across U.S. public schools.

• Starting Wednesday, August 9, in partnership with Reese’s Book Club, the SONIC Foundation will provide up to $100,000 to match donations to classroom projects requesting books at Equity Focus School in celebration of Book Lovers’ Day. Every public donation made on that day to reading-related projects on the DonorsChoose platform will receive a dollar-for-dollar match from Reese’s Book Club and the SONIC Foundation, while funding lasts.
• Starting Tuesday, August 15, the SONIC Foundation will celebrate National Back to School Prep Day by providing up to $900,000 to match donations to classroom projects on the DonorsChoose platform in SONIC markets. Every public donation made starting that day to projects submitted by teachers in SONIC markets will receive a 50% boost from the SONIC Foundation, while funding lasts.

To further show its appreciation for educators, SONIC is offering all enrolled in SONIC’s Teachers’ Circle rewards program a free 3-piece Buffalo Chicken Dip Bites with any app purchase beginning August 14.* Any teacher, faculty or staff at a K-12 school or degree-granting university can update their account information in the SONIC App to sign up for Teachers’ Circle and start receiving special, exclusive rewards throughout the year.

Throughout the year, SONIC guests can help support teachers and students by visiting the nearest SONIC location and purchasing their favorite Drink, Shake or Slush, and SONIC will donate a portion of proceeds back to local public schools. They can also visit DonorsChoose and donate directly to one or more of the thousands of public-school teacher requests seeking support to provide students with educational resources.
