SONIC® Drive-In congratulates the winning drive-in teams from Ocala, FL, Krum, TX and Mineola, TX for competing against thousands of drive-ins across the country to be named the top three in the 2023 DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES!

The winners of the 29th Annual DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES are:

“The Ocala team has truly demonstrated an unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional guest service and cultivating a positive team culture,” stated Kevin Knutson, Vice President of Operations Training at SONIC. “They have consistently upheld SONIC’s core values throughout the competition, and their diligent work has undeniably paid off.”

The DR PEPPER® SONIC® GAMES is the brand’s premier training program. Each year, over the course of several months, thousands of SONIC Drive-In crews across the country compete against each other in a series of trainings, quizzes and challenging team and individual competitions. A team’s efficiency, service and even friendliness are put to the test during the length of the competition. This year, the Final 12 teams’ skills and knowledge were put to the test at SONIC’s Annual National Convention in San Diego, where they competed live in front of a panel of judges to determine the ultimate victor.

“Over the past three decades, Dr Pepper® has had the pleasure of sponsoring these games and witnessing countless crews compete to prove their commitment to providing excellent service to each and every SONIC guest,” said John Orgeron, National Account Executive for Keurig Dr Pepper, Inc. “We’re thrilled for the three winning teams to receive their much-deserved accolades after months of exciting competition.”

To further support the local communities that the Final 12 teams represent, SONIC donated $10,000 in each team’s hometown to directly fund local classroom projects submitted by public school teachers, in association with educational nonprofit, DonorsChoose. In total, SONIC donated $120,000 to public schools across the Final 12 team markets, funding 169 classroom projects and impacting 5,070 students.

Powered by the SONIC Foundation, SONIC donates a portion of all drink, slush, and shake sales to support public education through the SONIC Limeades for Learning initiative.* Since 2009, SONIC has donated more than $27 million to funding local classrooms, becoming one of the largest programs to support public education in the U.S.
