Finding ‘Joy’: One Inspire Manager’s Career Supporting Guests, Franchisees, and His Community

By Jessica Shock

When Seamus Butler graduated with his Master’s in 2021 and joined the workforce, he accepted a job as a postman in his hometown of Waltham, Massachusetts, where he was immediately exposed to the importance of exceptional customer service in everyday interactions. When the opportunity arose to apply those skills at Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins, he leapt at the opportunity.

“I began working as a Customer Relations Coordinator for both Baskin-Robbins and Dunkin’, and I got a glimpse into the world of Baskin-Robbins,” recalls Seamus. “The brand values immediately stood out. Who doesn’t love ‘finding joy in everyday moments’? And Baskin-Robbins’ leadership constantly showcases those values phenomenally well.”

It wasn’t long before Seamus earned a promotion that shifted his focus from assisting guests to supporting franchisees, where he could combine his love of the brands with his Communications studies. He played a role in launching The Center, a digital hub for Dunkin’ and Baskin-Robbins franchisees to access key resources to successfully run their restaurants.

After nearly a year of honing his communications skills in that role by working on strategy, editing and publishing content, and digging into website design, Seamus saw an opportunity to jump completely into Baskin-Robbins as a Communications Manager leading internal and franchisee communications.

Shares Seamus, “Once I got here, my love for Baskin-Robbins grew even more. I’m a proud member of Team 31!”

But Seamus’ impact has gone far beyond the Baskin-Robbins brand. In 2024, he was named one of Inspire’s Good Citizens of the Year for coordinating more than 14 volunteer projects and supporting 220 team member volunteers serving a combined 530 hours.

“I grew up in places like the Boys and Girls Club and the YMCA, and I’m fortunate to participate in volunteer opportunities at work. Inspire’s Good Citizens Month allows me to give back to the places that raised me.”

In 2025, Seamus celebrated two years on the Baskin-Robbins team, where the brand celebrated his hard work with a promotion to Communications Manager. But whether answering guest calls or facilitating communication between internal partners, for Seamus, it all goes back to the guest.

“It’s easy to get caught up in your own day-to-day, but I often step back to remind myself that the brand is more than just what I’m writing,” says Seamus. “At Baskin-Robbins, it’s what guests are experiencing every day – both in our restaurants and in those carefree moments they’re enjoying ice cream with family and friends. It’s the smell of the waffle cones, and the taste of something that brings you joy.”
