Fans Line Up Overnight to Get the First Taste of SONIC in Alaska

By Raj Prashad

Guests slept in their cars. Excited fans lined the street starting at 3:15 in the morning. That was the scene in Wasilla, as franchisees Larry Clark and Cameron Johnson opened the doors to the very first SONIC Drive-In in Alaska.

Once inside, a group of teens enjoyed SONIC Tots, cheeseburgers and French Toast sticks from the brand’s all-day menu. Others oped for a Skittles slush or a strawberry limeade that apparently tasted like, “answered prayers.” For SONIC guest Tristian Compton, the grand opening was everything he hoped for.

“It’s delicious. Absolutely amazing,” said Tristian.

The new SONIC location includes a convenient double drive-thru, an indoor dining room and drive-in stalls, allowing guests to stop in for a quick bite to eat or enjoy one of 1.3 million unique drink combinations from the leisure of their car.
